Miss me?
I know it's only been a few days but I just wanted to let everyone know I've been trying to keep up with everyone's blogs the best I can on my smart phone. I installed my reader app.
Without my laptop (out for repairs) it's practically impossible and my husbands desk top doesn't support the reader I use ( all your blogs are organized there). And commenting, sorry I'm doing my best and that's pretty bad! I try to get a few minutes here and there on his computer but I really don't care for his space at all. It's...what can I say, well it's not mine!
For all of you who have been so kind and have sent get well wishes to Bill, he's doing much better and we both send our thanks. He had bronchitis and a sinus infection at the same time and was pretty miserable. with wheezing a cough and a bit of a fever. When he does it he does it all the way!! But I made him soup and made sure he took his medication with plenty of fluids and he's almost back to his good-ole self.
I haven't heard from the computer guy about my (mysteriously turning off when left idol ) laptop. And I hate not knowing what's wrong with my baby.
I hate not having something to do.
In the mean time idol hands have not been idol...
The weather here hasn't been all that great so .....I have cleaned and organized every closet in my house. I have cleaned and organized every draw in my kitchen. I have cleaned and organized every draw in my sideboard in the dining room as well as my mothers old breakfront which I have for my extra overflow stuff. Frankly, I'm running out of things to organize.
Oh! And out of the 52 hills of potatoes we planted 34 have already sprouted. Yippee! I'm feeling a good potato year.
I actually am going pretty batty! Can you tell? For one fleeting moment this morning I actually considered checking each and every odd battery I found at the bottom of the junk draw to see if they were working or not.(there were A LOT) I ended up putting them in a bag when I realized the very thought meant I was going off the deep end!
Mother nature isn't cooperating one bit either! Today is so horribly gray and so are my roots so being the trooper that I am I've decided to make the best of it.... I'm heading out visit my favorite hair dresser for a color and a cut. Nothing like a bit of a spruce up to brighten an otherwise dreary day.
I think we're going to be pretty much homebound since storms are headed our way. Looks like Red Box movies, soup and some home made bread are on our agenda for this weekend.
Anyone have anything exciting going on this weekend?

You do bloom where you're planted! Glad that Bill is doing better. And I hope your laptop gets fixed soon. Yay on the potatoes! Enjoy the rainy day--inspiring for writing, I think. And the soup and bread sound delicious. We're just getting the garden in up here. Dave tilled it last evening. We hauled in compost and some other amendments. Had a bad year last year and fell behind on some things.
ReplyDeleteTake care :-)
Teresa,
DeleteYou're the best and my new garden buddy! I think you might be the only other person who I know who reads my blog who gets as excited as me about soil and poop!!
Garden on my friend.
I'm going to take some pictures of my potato blooms but I'm not sure if I can put the pictures on Bill's computer, we'll see if he has the software and the drivers for my camera.
good luck on the computer!! and glad Bill is feeling better..
ReplyDeleteI was so bummed out yesterday Nina when he didn't call. Now I'm really starting to get worried!
DeleteI have been wandering through your blog and I am finding that you are truly a strong, strong woman. You have suffered through a tremendous grief and you sound as if you have found some sort of peace. My thoughts and prayers will be with you as I reflect on this terrible tragedy! Bless you Jen!
ReplyDeleteOh Paula! Loving family, loving friends, supportive church, incredible husband and one heck of a therapist because without them I'd be living under a rock somewhere!!..
DeleteIf you only knew what an incredible mess I was (you're a mother and I know you know this). I didn't sleep for months on end probably more. I was afraid to leave my house without Bill or Matthew with me, but I couldn't tell you for the life of me what I was afraid of.(later I found out I had p.t.s.d.) Let's just say I was in deep emotion pain and that's why we ended up seeing a therapist.
The blogging for me came way way after that and I had done an incredible amount of healing by then.
Yes I did find a place, and you're right you could call it peace or acceptance. You know what? I hate when people call it closure (I dislike that term) because I will always carry them in my heart every day along with the pain of losing them; some days it's heavy some days it's lighter but it's always there. There is no closing or closure on a mothers love for her children.
I agree with you about closure! I, too, hate to hear that!
DeleteGirl, if you need something to do... COME TO MY HOUSE... PLEASE! I can keep you busy forever.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about Bill's space not being yours. The only time I go to hubby's computer area is to help him with something and I hate it and can't wait to get back to my own. I'm not even comfortable on that computer and it's the one I used to use all the time.
Hope you hear from your computer guy soon. I know how frustrating that must be, although you have gotten a TON of things done, that I won't get done, because I'm on the computer way too much.
Believe me if you lived closer I'd be there!
DeleteNo word on my computer yet. Getting worried that he's having troubles detecting why it was turning itself off. Oh brother. The last thing I want to have to do is send it back to the manufacturer!
Hi Jen .. yes I echo Ms A's sweet request .. and if you can fly over the pond - I'd love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI hate other people's computers .. funny how we settle ourselves into our little screen world ..
I'm so pleased your husband is improving .. and that even though you're around you've been able to tidy so much - gosh puts me to shame!! Encourages me perhaps?!
Good luck with that computer .. cheers Hilary
Never been over "the pond" Hilary. It's on my list and especially now since I have so many blog friends in England and Scotland it might be fun to arrange a meeting for tea of a pint :)
DeleteMaybe some day!
I hope you get your laptop back soon - too much tidying and organising can't be good! We have the promise of some good weather over the next few days but we'll see if that holds true, this is the UK after all.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your good weather Sally. I know from what everyone says it's not all that often that a few good days are strung together.
DeleteWe're getting ready for our storm!
I'm glad he's feeling better. A sinus infection and bronchitis was one of the worse "sicks" I ever had and I was a young twenty something. I've been alone for a bit. My husband is out of town and I met my dad halfway on Friday afternoon to exchange Christopher for me time. It's been wonderful and I can tell you I didn't organize a dog gone thing. I guess that might have been different if I didn't have a computer. ;-) Hope you get yours back soon. If I had to write in my husband space that would drive me nuts. It's too junky.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the laptop, but I hope they figure out what is going on with it. Our weekend is slow and easy. I picked up some plants for outside but am waiting until tomorrow when it is to be warmer before I put them out in the ground. Not for them but me. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteAww...Hope hubby is feeling better now. I know you how bummed you must feel not having your laptop. Hopefully, you'll be back in business soon. 34 hills of potatoes...wow! Wish I was near. You could supply my potato salad fetish. lol
ReplyDeleteHope you had the chance to relax and watch a few good movies this weekend, Jen. Hopefully your husband and laptop will be fully functioning this week! :)
ReplyDeleteIf you're in need of something to do, would you please come to my house and clean out my closets and drawers? In return, I'll let you use my laptop.
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated Cinco de Mayo at a Mexican restaurant ... otherwise, just trying to catch up. :) Hope it all gets resolved for you soon.
ReplyDeletebummer about the computer. I think I got what Bill had. Been laid up all weekend and boooooooooooored! I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteSometimes in times like this, you need to just go out and get pampered. I hope that the hair colouring makes you feel better.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't you for one second feel sorry for not blogging/reading/commenting. Nope. We all have to live outside of our computers and take care of what matters most to us. You're doing the right thing.
We are all here for the long haul yo.
xo
Stacy, Sounds like a nice weekend for you! Enjoy..
DeleteSonya, Oh man we are kindred spirits because I love me some spuds as well! Thought you lived in Virginia??
Silvia, Sounds like fun! We stayed in this weekend I wish I was celebrating and having Mexican food too!
Zoe, I hate not having that computer and now I too have what Bill's got! Stinks now I'm off to the doctor tomorrow!
Kim, OMG! My gray roots decided to be naughty and didn't hold the color. My poor hairdresser had to re-formulate my usual color that he always mixes and re-do my hair. I was there for three hours. Poor man! My gray is officially more white than gray! Crap I'm to young for this. But in the end he had my hair looking fabulous!
I have come to the conclusion it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep up with all the stuff I love, including blogs, and blogging. But I do what I can and love every minute. :-)
ReplyDeleteBusy busy busy. Spring does that to us Jen! We have been the same way too....refinishing floors, piking out paint for bathroom and kitchen! Just not enough time!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear Bill is better...must have been that soup!! Have a great week. We may be getting some of that weather from you in a few days. Thanks so much.....
Glad your hubby is doing better! Hope your laptop gets fixed soon. Do you mind coming over to help me organize my house?!
ReplyDeleteJulie
I'm glad Bill is feeling better, you will get a rest from running around after a sick man too, they're usually worse than children.I've not touched my computer since I finished the letter Z but I've had toddlers all week end and now I have time my writing muse has fled.
ReplyDeleteI had my hair cut and coloured last night so no more red and I'm back to being my usual blonde and I have a short funky cut.
Every cloud has a silver linning and at least your cupboards are nice and tidy but the batteries thing, really? oh dear, time for your computer to get well too!
Don't go bonkers on us, please!
ReplyDeleteLaptop energy coming your way!!
Sophie
Angela, So very true BUT I still miss my computer :)
ReplyDeleteJim, Sounds like you and Ron are busy bee's how does one keep dog hair off a freshly refinished floor? Or should I just ask Sophie?
Julie, Sure he's fine now Julie, he's passed it to me now!!!
Anne. No more red? I can't wait to see your next batch of pictures from your holiday!
Hey Sophie, My computer guy is also a dog groomer as well, he has two businesses, Send him a bit wet lick and tell him to get the lead out will ya? It's been over a week already!!
I love grey weather. I'm odd that way ;)
