moving one room over

Whew, I feel a bit refreshed since taking a few days off since completing A-Z.

Although writing every day was exhilarating I really did need to take some time to catch up with some other things in my non blog world.

If you read my "X" post then you know I wrote each and every post from my couch with my laptop sitting on my lap.

I used to publish a few times a week prior to the challenge; sometimes more if the mood struck.

But honestly I've never spent that much time hunched over my computer writing, editing, and commenting.

I'd like to stress the word "hunched" it the key word here!

Gosh my neck and shoulders are killing me!

After more then a few sleepless nights in pain and agony. OK agony might be a bit of a exaggeration....

I had to use one of those rubs and medicate myself. OH! my aching neck- shoulders too!

So it looks like I'm going to have to move my laptop off my lap and over to the dining-room table, I sure hope this helps.

So friends what do you do to make sure this doesn't happen to you?

I sure wish I would have known this was going to happen before, water under the bridge huh?

  1. Perhaps you should look into those lap desks that you can put your computer on?

  2. I use a desk top so not too much hunching over, but between sitting in front of a computer all day at work and then all evening for the challenge, lets just say that I think the circulation is coming back in my legs again now that we're done! Oh and I think my butt may have spread another inch or two over the month!!

  3. I have this great little bag filled with flax seed (rice works too) that I can microwave and wrap around my neck. helps a lot! how showers, ibuprofen, neck rubs from my hubby, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g the neck... all helpful... but really you just have to kinda wait the whole thing out. :)

  4. I'm a full-time writer. So it's very important that I watch the way I'm positioned when I type on my laptop. If I type with my laptop on my lap, as I'm doing now, I make sure that my back is supported and that I'm not hunched over. The same goes for when I'm working in my office and my laptop is on my desk. When I do experience back pain, I go and get a massage. I prefer it over medication. Good luck with everything.

    1. I swear Jolie I love massage but I'm the only freak on this planet who gets black and blue after....can you believe it? It feel so good while it's happening but then after it looks like i've been beat up!!

Good advise though I think I'll be mindful of my posture, that might be the key. And I'll dream of those wonderful massages that your getting, i'm truly green with envy!
