I can see clearly now!

One of the reasons why I love spring so much is because I get to go out on my ginormous property and take pictures. As the animals emerge after the cooler weather and the flowers, trees and veggies bloom and grow I have the best time wandering about with my camera.

I've only had my camera for a bit more than a year and quite honestly I've never taken to experimenting with it off  the auto setting. The main reason was because I never read the huge booklet of instructions. I hate reading directions and lets face it if I haven't done it by now the chances of me doing so are slim to none.

So what's a gal to do? I was really feeling a bit limited at what I was able to do using auto and frankly I was feeling like a bit of a creative cheat. The other day I went out and let it all hang out..... I switched my camera off the auto setting and put on the menu and started experimenting with the settings. I grew up in the sixties so I can be a bit of a wild child when I put my mind to it.

I had difficulty getting shots that were focused on things close up on auto. What's photography without a close up? Take the half ripe blueberries below for instance I did that off auto. Now why didn't I do this sooner?  By the way Bill and I are going on vacation this Friday. I'm sure by the time we get back the birds or deer will have enjoyed all of these luscious berries!

This is proof that Bill needed to mow the lawn. Dear little buttercup, sweet little buttercup, my little buttercup, I love you! Didn't know singing was another one of my many talents huh?

Have I mentioned we live in a small town? Of course I have! There are a few stores a bank, pharmacy, a grocery, a couple of gas station and one stop sign. The local hardware closed last year and that was the place you could get everything including our seed potatoes. This year we just let some potatoes from the grocery store grow eyes and used them in our garden. I was really skeptical that this would be a good potato year. Below is one potato plant. I think the eye's have it. Wink!

So now you've seen my photography without training wheels. We've yet to see what my vacation photographs will look like when we get back from the Bahama's next week. If by chance they're horrible I already have my excuse prepared.

I'll blame it on the rum!

While we're on vacation our house is being guarded by our vicious guard turtle. So don't think about stealing my blueberries or my potatoes.

Awards and things like needles in a haystacks!

There is nothing nicer as a blogger than being appreciated by your peers for what you do or who you are.
Can I be honest? I have so many blog awards I've lost count but I'm a spot so I'll play along.

First I received The Liebster Award from coffee lady over at her blog called
my morning cup of coffeeShe's a sweetheart with a wonderful sense of humor. She is real as they get and she write about every day life with an honesty I admire. I suggest you click on this link and go over coffee in hand and visit her asap!

Then my faith-filled friend Maria over at delight directed living honored me with the same award! When you read her blog I know you will agree with me that. Maria is a person of faith who writes from her heart. She will lift your spirits   when you read her words of faith and hope. Visit!

My friend miss bates over at miss-bates.blogspot gave me not only a Liebster Award but a Very Inspiring Blogger Award. OMG! What a sweet gal! I met her during A-Z and I can tell you truthfully she's a wonderful writer. She's writing daily in May so believe me she's a dedicated writer as well, you'll enjoy her blog, believe me!

This week my new friend Jessica   who writes over at the blog, A word or two, about a word gave me another Liebster Award. I'm giggling and hoping I reach 200 followers since I'm running out of room for all these awards :) This one is sorta cute and blueish which is my first one of this kind!  Jessica is a mom a blogger and a newly published author of a book called  "The Key to Life". How cool is that? Don't forget to visit!

The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.  What is a Liebster?  The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

The Very Inspiring Blogger Award doesn't require any questions or answers....

I'm thinking needle in haystack here. Speak up people.

Are you out there?
If you're my needle leave a comment cause I have something for your!!. If you're not why not answer one of my questions (blue) and leave an answer in a comment.

Why my laptop works!

I finally got a call from the computer guy yesterday afternoon about my computer. He said my computer was happy and working like new!

Yippy!!

He was so busy with his computer business that it took him almost two weeks before he even got a chance to pick it up and take a look at it. I am a patient woman, btw.

In his words it had lots of gobbledy gook and crap files on it that he cleaned up for me- translation- malware. Then he was poking around and he found a file that he was having trouble deleting- translation- virus. I have always had virus protection and recently changed from McAfee to Kaspersky, neither detected any of this. Nada! This really troubles me a lot!

Anyhow, this virus was attached to my unzipping program (freeware) and apparently it was a nasty little sucker, sucking up my CPU's and overloading my computer.(that's why it was shutting down unexpectedly) He uninstalled the program and guess what?  The darn file was hiding somewhere else in my computer so he had to go hunting for it and get rid of it another way.

Darn!!

I am so glad I brought my computer to this man who was a complete professional and an expert in this type of stuff. Frankly I didn't have a clue all this was going on within my computer's operating system. I'm actually pretty darn careful about what I download and like I said I've alway had up to date virus protection and I thought I was safe.

Water under the bridge....

I'm officially back and officially $140. poorer.

Double darn!

This is no rest at all!

Hi everyone!

Miss me?

I know it's only been a few days but I just wanted to let everyone know I've been trying to keep up with everyone's blogs the best I can on my smart phone. I installed my reader app.

Without my laptop (out for repairs)  it's practically impossible and my husbands desk top doesn't support the reader I use ( all your blogs are organized there). And commenting, sorry I'm doing my best and that's pretty bad! I try to get a few minutes here and there on his computer but I really don't care for his space at all. It's...what can I say, well it's not mine!

For all of you who have been so kind and have sent get well wishes to Bill, he's doing much better and we both send our thanks. He had bronchitis and a sinus infection at the same time and was pretty miserable. with wheezing a cough and a bit of a fever. When he does it he does it all the way!! But I made him soup and made sure he took his medication with plenty of fluids and he's almost back to his good-ole self.

I haven't heard from the computer guy about my (mysteriously turning off when left idol ) laptop. And I hate not knowing what's wrong with my baby.

I hate not having something to do.

In the mean time idol hands have not been idol...

The weather here hasn't been all that great so .....I have cleaned and organized every closet in my house. I have cleaned and organized every draw in my kitchen. I have cleaned and organized every draw in my sideboard in the dining room as well as my mothers old breakfront which I have for my extra overflow stuff. Frankly, I'm running out of things to organize.

Oh!  And out of the 52 hills of potatoes we planted 34 have already sprouted. Yippee! I'm feeling a good potato year.

I actually am going pretty batty! Can you tell?  For one fleeting moment this morning I actually considered checking each and every odd battery I found at the bottom of the junk draw to see if they were working or not.(there were A LOT) I ended up putting them in a bag when I realized the very thought meant I was going off the deep end!

Mother nature isn't cooperating one bit either! Today is so horribly gray  and so are my roots so being the trooper that I am I've decided to make the best of it....  I'm heading out visit my favorite hair dresser for a color and a cut. Nothing like a bit of a spruce up to brighten an otherwise dreary day.

I think we're going to be pretty much homebound since storms are headed our way. Looks like Red Box movies, soup and some home made bread are on our agenda for this weekend.

Anyone have anything exciting going on this weekend?
