finally!

I was such a long hot summer and frankly I'm ready to move on. Bring on the fall! This summer was so darn hot and the focus of our summer entertainment and joy - our garden ended up being a real let down this season. Week after week of 100 plus weather didn't do much for our veggies except bake them and wilt them to death.

I'm a bit relieved that the summer season is over and happy to move on to the cooler weather which I'm happy to say has finally arrived here in our area. Ya'll know how much I hate being in the A.C so having the windows open especially at night for sleeping; there's nothing better!

I've hung up my fall wreaths on our doors and displayed our little fall chachkies to make the house look a bit more festive for the season. I like the change of seasons. I get a burst of energy and a bit excited about the beauty of the changes we'll soon be seeing.

Tell me dear readers, do you like the change of seasons?

I've got some plans this fall which include attending a concert with my cousins, a 50th anniversary celebration for my Aunt Marie and Uncle Doug in NY,  and a wedding.

Do you have plans for this fall? Do tell...

  1. Sounds like a great fall you have coming up with some fun activities! Glad too to hear that the weather is cooling down a bit and fall is in the air! We were 103 plus degrees here today so definitely no signs of fall. Here in Southern California we don't get dramatic changes of seasons like we did when we lived in Montana, our leaves change in December or January at times, LOL, but I do like the changes of the seasons; always good to get a bit of a change, even if it is a small almost unnoticeable one. May it be a great season for you and yours!

  2. I have never been a fan of autumn - the air gets electric and the light is sharp -- oh, and I have to go to work! More and more though, as falls approach, I tell myself to see what others see in the fall season . I look for the colors and I do love them. I HATE the shorter days but I try to be okay with less light. Although I enjoy the winter holiday times, I am disgusted by the commercial nature and by the current cultural demands to play along. So I don't - play with the commercial part, I mean. I do like the music and the simplicity of the late fall, early winter times (when you can excise the link to spending money and creating the perfect holiday).

I have no specific plans for the fall - jsut to breathe and enjoy my family when I can.
    Thanks for asking!

  3. I'm still in Turkey and loving the heat! In Scotland it seems we have stopped having seasons. Weather is much the same all year ,milder in summer and colder in winter with maybe snow for a few days but we always say wait ten minutes and the weather will change. Most of all it's rain that destroys or gardens and plants as they become waterlogged. Not looking forward to going home except to see my granddaughter.

  4. September and October are my favorite Chicago months. I, too, am energized by the fall. Plus we have some fun things to do like see the kids a couple times, a trip to Sea Island, GA and I'm going to NYC with my very best girlfriend in mid-October! Sounds like you have fun in store, too! I love windows wide, wide open and the freshness.

    1. This summer was a bit of a drag....way to much 100+ heat here. Makes it hard to do anything but hide in the AC and I hate the AC!

  6. The weather was so hot that I barely did any gardening this year. Needless to say my garden looks horrible. Everyone's grass looks horrible too. My husband and I were in Las Vegas last week, and it was over 100 degrees every day.

    1. It was like that here most of the summer Jolie, just terribly hot and muggy.

My poor garden just roasted in the sun ( we don't water because we have a well )and there weren't even any veggies to can for the winter, very disappointing season.

Like I said I'm happy to move on.

  7. I adore the change of seasons, but I wish we were blessed with more color where I am. Too darn many coastal pines!

  9. I love the changing of the seasons. I guess that's why I live in Maine. We have 5 of them, including mud season (in between winter and spring). It was actually in the 40s this morning, yet my son still wore shorts to school. I'm looking forward to apple picking and leaf peeping!

    1. We have horrible (red/orange) mud here too, but it's a spring time thing. I guess yours is the melting snow huh?

I do hope it warms up in the afternoon for your son in those shorts. I love apple picking too. We used to do it on Long Island when the kids were little. Now I just go out in the yard.
