No disrespect to Punxsutawney Phil and I may be spitting hairs here but do we get six more weeks of winter if we we really haven't had any winter yet? I think we've used our wood stove for heat for about seven days the whole season, that does not a winter make!
I haven't gotten to spend a lot of time with my camera but the past few days it has been flirting with 70 degrees and above so I went out and took a few shots. Here's the moon today thru a budding tree; yes you heard me right! I have a tree that's budding on February 2nd!...amazing.
I was pretty pleased to get this one of the moon but much closer up, just look at those craters. I'm so darn happy that this camera can focus in that close. What a step up from my last camera! I still have a ton of trouble holding the camera steady, but then I was never gonna be a brain surgeon anyway!
And if you had any darn question about how crazy warm the weather is here in Virginia here's the proof of all proofs. This daffodil is one of many blooming in my front garden today, and Mr bug crawling on its pretty yellow leaf.
I don't know Phil things are looking rather Spring-ish here! Next time pictures of the snow storm, I probably just jinxed the whole Commonwealth with this post!
Great photos.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Jen, you may have jinxed it alright! Look at that tree and daff! Is there a God? I ask?
ReplyDeleteYour grandfather was from PEI? Both my maternal grandparents were born there. They were MasIsaac and what else, MacDonald!!! Both from the eastern tip of the Island.
I should warn you though...if you go there, you may never return home! It is so beautiful and tranquil.....spent lots of time there in the summers as a kid and lately as a BIG kid! We could be related!!lol
I have never tried to get a moon photo....you just inspired me to try! Thanks.
Jen,
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are out of this world. Good camera or great eye?
My daughter, when she was little, always noticed the "day moon" . I need to show her your pictures. Professional quality.
Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks Gee,
DeleteI'm thinking good camera with a very enthusiastic desire to develop the eye.
Beautiful!! I have NEVER seen the moon look like that from where I live. Now WHAT camera lens to you have? Not that your answer will mean a whole lot. I am a photographer's wife so I can ask my husband to translate. I have a PSD camera (push here dummy). He has the fancy smancy ones. These photos are excellent.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the weather. We haven't even had a wet or icy rain yet here in NC. Not even a 2-hour delay for schools!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Are you sure you've never had a class?? Wow!
Well you can always go by the Canadian groundhog...
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had much of a winter either. So weird.
Those photos are simply amazing. The moon? Gorgeous.
Phil doesn't have much of a track record!
DeleteGlad you liked the photo's!
Seriously, what freaking lens are you using that can capture the moon like that? That's incredible!
ReplyDeletem.
agree!
DeleteYeah, I'm thinking Phil's predictions this year are unnecessary! We pretty much went from summer to spring where I live.
ReplyDeleteLoving that moon shot...must try that later this evening...flowers wow..our may appear in late March this year since everything is early is year!
ReplyDeleteFabulous moon shot!! What type of camera and lens are you using? ~Angela
ReplyDeleteAngela, I got this camera for Christmas this camera is a Cannon PowerShot SX-40 HS, it doesn't have a removable lenses....but as you can see it does zoom in really really closely!
