It starts with the first little buds of the trees and shrubs and my eyes will start to itch and feel dry. Allergies. Then before you know it the view from my front window is a sea of yellow pollen that covers all the surfaces of the deck, the lawn furniture, my car and our pickup truck. The offenders are Juniper, Elm and Poplar the predominant pollen's for this time of the year and the cause my allergies.
Sneeze, sniffle, cough ugh! I've used boxes and boxes of tissues and I'm not even going to go into the awful congestion and yuck running down the back of my throat.*throat clear* Both OTC and prescription medication do tend to keep me up at night and I find no appreciable difference in how they work. But when all is said and done I'd rather be able to breathe; I can deal with some minor sleep disturbances.
This years been a particularly bad year in Virginia and I have the allergies to prove it.
How have you been doing? Allergies have you running for the tissue box?
so lucky not to have allergies....especially since spring and summer meant a lot of outdoor time on a farm when I was growing up. Can you imagine doing the hay if you had allergies? My poor cousin who did have them would have constant nosebleeds.

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the allergies. I never had a problem with allergies until a few years ago, now they are full blown. I've had an allergy related sinus headache that I just can't get rid of for a week now - ugh!
I didn't have allergies as a child, but I got them as an adult. (And I thought I was healthy. LOL) I get the scratchy throat and the stuffy nose. Sometimes my eyes get red. It sucks.

DeleteHey, I'm in Virginia too :-) The runny nose and headaches hit me full force last week. Allergy meds work pretty well for me, fortunately. And allergy season is always the first sign to hail the coming of pool season. Yay!

DeleteEeek! You poor thing, Jen! I don't have any sneezing or congestion issues, but I feel like I've been having one perpetual headache because of the weather! Cincinnati is awful for allergies, too!

ReplyDeleteI had allergies when I was younger, but seem to have outgrown many of them. Lucky me!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I used to have them really bad too. I actually lost my voice and felt flu like symptoms every year. No more. Ever since I started oil pulling and dry skin brushing and drinking green smoothies (not to mention going gluten free)I've been nearly allergy free. I have sneezed only 4 times this season! And yes, I'm counting because this is awesome! LOL
ReplyDeleteTis the season...I know exactly what you mean about allergies. I'm glutton for punishment though because I refuse to let them get in my way, so I have pockets full of tissue while I'm out photographing flowers. I hope you will find some relief. It's really bad this year.

ReplyDeleteMy mom and dad suffered terribly from allergies, but it must have skipped a generation. I'm not bothered in the least. My kids have a little bit, but I think it's ragweed for them.

DeleteWhile I don't have problems with allergies, my sister has been dying ever since she moved here (Ohio) 10 years ago. Guess it's a common problem in this area. I totally hate it for her, & for you as well! Hope you feel better, or find something that can help. :(

I think moving triggers allergies! When I move here from up north that's the first time I had allergies.
