TODAY’S TOPIC
Tell us seven random facts about yourself.
- I'm the only girl and the middle child.
- Other than my morning coffee I do not consume caffeine drinks at any other time of the day. The reason is that I found I sleep better without the added stimulation.
- I love to cook and I do so pretty much every day.
- I suffer from chronic migraines and have since I was in my twenties. Now that I'm over 50 they're getting a bit better but I still get one or two a month. (with daily medication)
- I'm a bit of a clean freak. Or rather I should say I'm one of those freaks that likes to clean. It makes me calm.
- The three places I'd like to visit on vacation are... Prince Edward Island, Canada, Cork Ireland and Yvignac-la-Tour, (Brittany) France. My grandparents or other ancestors are from these places.
- I am a court appointed Guardian for a Intellectually Disabled Adult who is a family friend.
I too am the middle child, girl sandwiched between two brothers. I don't like to clean, shall I leave you my address, lol?
ReplyDeleteI probably would have come this past week with no DSL Sandy I was climbing the walls and cleaning them..
DeleteI am a middle child as well. I don't mind cleaning, I just can't get motivated. Good for you for looking after your family friend!!
ReplyDeleteI go in spurts with motivation too. And the friend, she's a sweetie!
DeleteWell you are very interesting. I too have been cursed with migraine most of my adult life and as I am getting older they seem less ferocious , or maybe that is that the meds are improving. Either way, I hear you sister x
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get off the meds since I've been on them for so long. I'm hoping he'll take me down another 50mg this Aug.
DeleteSorry you have to deal with them too :(
i get sinus headaches all the time. often wonder if they are any way to similar to migraines. i hate the light, pressure in my brain is huge, nothing helps not sleep, no headache meds, or coffee (caffeine) anything... i some times have them for days . . . & they then just vanish. i know they have gotten worse has i have gotten into my adult years.
ReplyDeletehave a good week. ( :
Those are some good facts!
ReplyDeleteI too am a middle child and the only girl, my mom refers to this as "the rose between two thorns." Ha! Ha! Yea right...
Your mom's a smart cookie! We middle girl children are sweet aren't we?
DeleteI'm the baby... so did you have "middle child" syndrome? :)
ReplyDeleteI can't consume caffine after 11am for the same reasons! I love to cook, too!
I have migraines... but more often they're cluster headaches... which is a type of migraine but it's just enough to tick me off!
Have a great week!
I'm way to responsible to have "middle child syndrome" broke the mold with me!!
DeleteI have a friend who has the cluster headaches, horrible thing!
I actually like to clean too! It's kind of therapeutic.
ReplyDeleteDecluttering the mind is good for us Jen! Keep cleaning!~ In fact, why not stop by here when you have a minute!! lol
ReplyDeletePEI and Brittany/Normandy are on my list too, we HAVE to be related!! Even though I've been to PEI numerous times, it's always good to go back.
I just bet you were spoiled by your two brothers? Yes?
--One question.
ReplyDeleteCan you come clean my house? Xx
How much wine do you have??
DeleteI'm a morning-coffee-only person, too. Wow, very cool that number 7. Says a lot about you. We have a family friend who is in a similar situation and his mother is thinking about the best person to take over after her death. Tough situation since it seems like most family members are making themselves unavailable. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThere are many adult disabled without family guardians or friend of the family guardians who step up after their parents become unable to care for them or die. What shocked me Silvia was to find out there's such a thing as a professional guardian. (who are paid for that role) It's a shame they are needed but they are and i have mixed feelings about that.
DeleteIt is a huge commitment; truthfully basically you're becoming this persons parent with all that implies. For me however there's a thirty plus year friendship with the parents and my ward so they are my family in every way but blood. It was a natural position for me to enter into.
I just saw you're a previous New Yorker?
ReplyDeleteDo you miss it?
I visit frequently so I get my fill of all the good stuff, family, beach, friends and food. But truthfully I would never move back I'm very pleased with where I am.
DeleteI drink tea with caffine all day long which is probably why I'm blogging at 11pm. Good to know more about you Jen but what happened to Scotland on that vacation list?
ReplyDeleteI can't drink caffeine at all. I do drink decaf coffee, but I have to limit that because it does have some traces of caffeine. Other than that, no caffeine. I love to cook and bake and feed people. I also cook every day. It relaxes me to bake a batch of cookies when I am feeling stress or anxiety. This week, I baked 3 times...haha. I am the oldest child. It sucks! I think it is a wonderful thing about you being the guardian of someone. At least you know they will not get taken advantage of. Luckily for me, I have never suffered a migraine and I don't really get headaches that often (maybe one every couple of months usually due to lack of sleep). I am glad they are slowing down even though you have to take medication. You are wonderful, Jen!
ReplyDeleteI believe the kitchen is the heart of the home.. so the kitchen and cooking are big parts of what's going on in this house.I love the smell of baking cookies. Cristy do you ever make big cookies and put ice cream in them like home made ice cream sandwiches? We love that here!
Deletemy daughter is the only girl in the middle of our 2 sons. And I like to clean too. It IS calming, adding order and sparkle to the house. We are weird! I don't know anyone else who likes to clean! We part ways on the cooking. Not crazy about it, but I LOVE to bake. Guess that's why I'm always battling extra pounds. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's the down side of cooking/baking Mare is the eating and extra pounds? Your right, you are one of few of my blogger friends who likes to clean too.
DeleteI don't like to clean, but it does have a calming effect.
