more bs about me

Sorry for the disappearing act my friends, DSL was out. I hope you don't mind that I'm going to jump right back in although I missed a whole bunch of posts!

My friend Paula is doing a July Blog Challenge. If you click on the link below the banner that says Paula's Place it will take you to her blog if you'd like to join. If you click here it will take you to the list of daily topics for the month also at her blog..

TODAY’S TOPIC

Tell us seven random facts about yourself.

  1. I'm the only girl and the middle child.
  2. Other than my morning coffee I do not consume caffeine drinks at any other time of the day. The reason is that I found I sleep better without the added stimulation.
  3. I love to cook and I do so pretty much every day.
  4. I suffer from chronic migraines and have since I was in my twenties. Now that I'm over 50 they're getting a bit better but I still get one or two a month. (with daily medication)
  5. I'm a bit of a clean freak. Or rather I should say I'm one of those freaks that likes to clean. It makes me calm.
  6. The three places I'd like to visit on vacation are... Prince Edward Island, Canada, Cork Ireland and Yvignac-la-Tour, (Brittany) France. My grandparents or other ancestors are from these places.
  7. I am a court appointed Guardian for a Intellectually Disabled Adult who is a family friend.

  4. i get sinus headaches all the time. often wonder if they are any way to similar to migraines. i hate the light, pressure in my brain is huge, nothing helps not sleep, no headache meds, or coffee (caffeine) anything... i some times have them for days . . . & they then just vanish. i know they have gotten worse has i have gotten into my adult years.

    have a good week. ( :

  10. I'm a morning-coffee-only person, too. Wow, very cool that number 7. Says a lot about you. We have a family friend who is in a similar situation and his mother is thinking about the best person to take over after her death. Tough situation since it seems like most family members are making themselves unavailable. Good for you!

    1. There are many adult disabled without family guardians or friend of the family guardians who step up after their parents become unable to care for them or die. What shocked me Silvia was to find out there's such a thing as a professional guardian. (who are paid for that role) It's a shame they are needed but they are and i have mixed feelings about that.

It is a huge commitment; truthfully basically you're becoming this persons parent with all that implies. For me however there's a thirty plus year friendship with the parents and my ward so they are my family in every way but blood. It was a natural position for me to enter into.

  12. I drink tea with caffine all day long which is probably why I'm blogging at 11pm. Good to know more about you Jen but what happened to Scotland on that vacation list?

  13. I can't drink caffeine at all. I do drink decaf coffee, but I have to limit that because it does have some traces of caffeine. Other than that, no caffeine. I love to cook and bake and feed people. I also cook every day. It relaxes me to bake a batch of cookies when I am feeling stress or anxiety. This week, I baked 3 times...haha. I am the oldest child. It sucks! I think it is a wonderful thing about you being the guardian of someone. At least you know they will not get taken advantage of. Luckily for me, I have never suffered a migraine and I don't really get headaches that often (maybe one every couple of months usually due to lack of sleep). I am glad they are slowing down even though you have to take medication. You are wonderful, Jen!

    1. I believe the kitchen is the heart of the home.. so the kitchen and cooking are big parts of what's going on in this house.I love the smell of baking cookies. Cristy do you ever make big cookies and put ice cream in them like home made ice cream sandwiches? We love that here!

  14. my daughter is the only girl in the middle of our 2 sons. And I like to clean too. It IS calming, adding order and sparkle to the house. We are weird! I don't know anyone else who likes to clean! We part ways on the cooking. Not crazy about it, but I LOVE to bake. Guess that's why I'm always battling extra pounds. :-)
