Today is "V" day. And what better way to showcase the vibrant and vivid hues of spring in Virginia then by sharing a few photographs. After all who doesn't value the beauty of nature?  (notice all those v's?)

  1. The flowers are absolutely beautiful. I know I've said this before, but you are such a talented photographer Jen. It's supposed to warm up a little this weekend, and hopefully we'll see some blooms around here.

    1. We've had a rather odd spring here Hilary truth be told, lots of extremes, rain, hot, cold. I'm glad the flower finally bloomed!

  11. Lovely! The blue in the irises is astounding--such a difficult color to find in nature--save for the sky. :-)

I bet that was a such a good walk with your camera. :-)

  16. Oh my, Jen! These are absolutely gorgeous. I was just commenting to my daughter as we rode into our neighborhood here also in Virginia just how beautiful all the trees and flowers are in bloom. Your photos are certainly vibrant and vivid. Thanks for sharing. God bless, Maria at Delight Directed Living BTW, I am glad you returned to the old way. I like it better I think.

  19. My garden is blooming as well. Problem is, I don't have time to garden these days. When I started my garden, years ago, my life was less busy than it is now.

  20. LOVELY photos! I love spring and all the colors painted in nature. Those magnolia trees are stunning, and while there are a few shrimpy ones around town, we saw some massive examples blooming in Mississippi and Alabama when we went through there in February. So pretty!

  21. G,It's pretty nice outside except for the pollen!

Maria, Well as a fellow Virginian then you know. Thanks for giving me feedback on the comments, you were the only one!

Jamie, Lovers of flowers can have a hard time choosing!

Francene, We plant those because the voles ate all our tulips, apparently these are not all that tasty. lucky for us!

Jenn, The Magnolia is beautiful and we planted it when our grandson Adam was born, he's a teenager now. It actually flowers multiple times so we love it!

Jolie, If it's a good busy then that good Jolie!

O/Wife, I think that type of tree is a southern thing. We have some huge ones that are hundreds of years around her. Mine is barely 15.

  23. Why go far from home if close looks like this?
I've always thought of flowers as having their hearts on the outside. My eyes are clutched onto these pictures, beautiful. ~Mary

    1. The shame of it Mary is that in a few weeks from now the sun will burn them up if they're not in pots under some sort of shaded area. It is very hard to keep plants alive in the southern sun.
