how sweet it isn't

I hate feet! I like my own feet but I don't want to look at your feet and I do not want to smell them either. I also hate shoes and socks. If I had my druthers I would wear flip flops or go bare footed all year long.I did break down last November and get a pair of sneakers before Bill and I went to Barbados on vacation. I figured I'd be doing some walking, and it seemed like a sensible choice for sightseeing around the island. I doubt I've worn them three times since!

"O"

ODOR -  "O" word

  1. the property of a substance that activates the sense of smell: to have an unpleasant odor
  2. a sensation perceived by the sense of smell; scent
  3. a disagreeable smell.
Since socks are the equivalent of a straight jacket for me, one week in those sneakers and they have an odor that you couldn't believe. Stinky feet/sneakers are one odor that turns my stomach especially when they are reminiscent of the odor coming from the community garbage truck ;( yuck!

Seriously folks, odors really stink :).

When was the last time you've heard "the dog did it" or some such tale? Do you have a stinky co-worker? Have you ever taken a plane trip and gotten stuck next to smelly person? Or am I the only person this stuff happen too?

I know you have a stinking story to tell!

  1. Being hypersensitive in all 5 senses, I can certainly relate to the odor issue. And just the slightest odor can disgust me quickly! This post reminded me of when Birdie was coming along and playing soccer. Occasionally, she would leave one or both of her socks from practice or a game in the car. By the following morning the odor was RIPE! This went on for 8 years. LOL

  2. I hear ya! And I'm with ya! My hubby's feet were bad, then we moved to Florida and became flip-flop people. Best odor-eater in the south - no shoes! It's wonderful. In fact, if we ever move north, we'll be in trouble, b/c we'll have to buy shoes. :-)

  3. I lived in sandels and flip flops almost year round in California, even at work. This winter I had to move to socks and enclosed shoes, and it was like wearing a straight jacket. My problem with shoes is not odor, but shoes themselves.

  4. I love "How sweet it isn't."

I went bare-footed for nearly all of my first 17 years. What finally got me into shoes was this. One morning I walked across the quad at college barefooted, through frost on the ground. I spent all of chemistry class trying to get some feeling back in my feet.

  5. LOL! I know smelly feet is nothing to laugh about but you are funny about it! I think you are a 'true hippie'! Barefeet is your means of transport everywhere! I do know I can't wait to get my sandles on after the long winter! I have them on now as we speak!

  6. I find the opposite, our sandles/flip flops get more odor than the boots/shoes we wear. Last year someone passed on a cool tip though because my son's sandals were smelling bad even though I was washing them, you take aerosol antipersperant/deoderant and spray it on the bottom of the feet before putting the sandal on. It worked amazingly well.

  7. Hi Jen! I am a shoes-on person! My husband thinks it's weird when I have sneakers on around the house! I generally don't get stinky feet, so I am super lucky! ~ Angela, Whole Foods Living, http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/

  9. You know how I feel about painted toes! Feet are gross. I don't like them touching me pretty much ever.

Wash those sneakers in the machine with soap and some bleach. Takes a bit of the stank out!

  10. Another thing we have in common! I hate wearing shoes and socks almost as much as I hate bras - do you hate bras too? I do have a pair of sneakers for workouts and a couple pairs of high heels but 99% of the time I am in flip flops, even at work even though they aren't allowed. Call me a rebel ;)

  12. I've been stuck in line behind stinky people more times than I care to admit!

I like wearing flip flops too, but when I go to theme parks, etc. I always wear sneakers for comfort.

  14. My husband stinks after he comes home from jogging. I hate it. LOL! As far as shoes, we take our shoes off when we come into our house. They do the same thing in Thailand and in other locations.

  15. I hate feet.
    Well that's not entirely true.
I do love me some baby feet and toddler feet.
I have been known to take way too many photos of my sons feet.
    What?

  16. Years ago I worked with a woman with really bad BO. We worked with children in a close enviroment so someone had to tell her. She was very clean and tidy it was just a problem she had.She took offence when she was told in a very nice manner but she stayed off work for a month but when she came back she had no BO.
